Established in 1912 for the Ammon homestead area, Ammon Cemetery sits about 2.5 miles east of town on Sunnyside Road and remains an actively maintained public cemetery with more than 3,700 recorded memorials. Local legend holds that the ghost of a young boy — believed by many to have drowned — haunts a favorite climbing tree near his grave. Reports describe him waving to passersby who slow down while driving past, and occasionally climbing down to run toward the fence line, though he's never been seen beyond it.
Active cemetery on a hill east of Ammon, open to visitors. Visit in daylight and treat the graves with respect.
