Tuscarora grew after a Shoshone man told a trader about gold in 1867, and its mines have produced more than half a million ounces of gold and millions of ounces of silver. A pottery school has run in its historic hotel since 1966, and the Tuscarora Society Hall and a cemetery with restored markers survive. The post office is the only active business.
Remote; summer pottery workshops and a small gallery are the main visitor draw.
