Built in 1884, this theater and the firehouse beside it stand on the site of Thomaston's oldest cemetery — the graves were relocated, but the headstones' original ground was simply built over. The building closed in 1963 over fire code violations and faced demolition before a restoration campaign saved it, reopening in 1968. Visitors report the sense of being watched when alone in the theater, along with rumors of spirits from a long-ago fire that damaged the building; the neighboring firehouse, now a teen center, has its own persistent but less-documented reputation for activity.
