The Saratoga Hotel, a three-story Chateau-style hotel built in 1904 on Main Street in Caldwell, was one of the largest hotels in the Northwest in its day, later expanded to four stories in a 1923 renovation. It stood until the early morning hours of December 19, 1990, when an arson-suspected fire destroyed the wooden structure within hours. An office strip mall now occupies the site. Employees there report a chilling cold feeling upon opening certain doors, chairs and glass racks moving on their own after closing, and unexplained footsteps and noises.
The hotel burned down in 1990, and nothing of it remains. The site is part of downtown Caldwell redevelopment, so there is nothing to visit.
