Old Fort Niagara at the mouth of the Niagara River, begun by the French in 1726 around a stone house called the French Castle, was held in turn by the French, British and Americans over three centuries of conflict. It is on the Haunted History Trail, and the Ghost Hunters team investigated it in season seven. Visitors report shadows, slamming doors, mists and orbs, and a headless French officer said to be killed in a sword duel who haunts the French Castle.
