McMenamins Edgefield, east of Portland, began in 1911 as the Multnomah County Poor Farm, a home for residents who were poor, ill or elderly, and later served as a nursing home and a place for people with mental illness and tuberculosis. Travel Oregon and Oregon ghost writers describe the property as haunted, with reports of disembodied voices, crying and apparitions, and unmarked graves lie on the grounds. Today it is a hotel, brewery, winery and concert venue, and its history is part of the grounds' exhibits.
Open to the public as a hotel, pubs, brewery and concert venue; the grounds can be walked during the day.
