Manassas National Battlefield Park preserves the grounds of the First Battle of Bull Run on July 21, 1861 and the Second Battle in August 1862, two of the Civil War's major engagements. Local ghost lore describes phantom soldiers, drum and gunfire sounds on Henry Hill and along the unfinished railroad, though the Park Service tells the history rather than the ghost stories.
National Park Service site with a visitor center, trails and driving tour; the park is open daily in daylight hours.
