The Keating Center at Ringling College of Art and Design was originally the Spanish Mission-Revival Bay Haven Hotel, built in 1925; circus magnate John Ringling bought it in 1931 to house the new art school founded that year by Ludd M. Spivey, and it's been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. Campus legend holds that a young woman named Mary died in the building in the 1930s, and that her spirit still walks the halls between the second and third floors, now student housing. Students and staff have long reported the sense of being watched, and art students say they've found paintbrushes left in rinse cups swirling on their own.
Working administrative building with student rooms on its upper floors, so it is not open to the public. The 1926 Mediterranean-style exterior can be seen from the campus edge; contact the college before visiting.
