Highgate Manor, a mansion built in 1818 by Captain Steve Keyes in Highgate Falls, was later the home and practice of Dr. Henry Baxter and has served as a house, a bed and breakfast, a dance hall and now a wedding and event venue. It appears in Thea Lewis's book on Vermont's haunted inns. Local legend says the spirits of a former doctor's children remain in the house, and some tell of a presence in the basement bar, linked in one story to a visit by Al Capone.
Event and wedding venue; there are no regular public hours, so contact the venue about tours or events. Please respect the private grounds.
