Fort Reno began in 1874 as a military camp to oversee the Cheyenne and Arapaho, later hosted Buffalo Soldiers and the Land Run of 1889, and held German prisoners of war in World War II. TravelOK includes it on its list of Oklahoma's most haunted places, and the fort holds Historic Spirit Tours, lantern-lit walks through the chapel and cemetery. Reports include heavy boots and footsteps, doors opening, cold spots, pictures falling from walls, faces in windows and sightings of ghostly children.
Historic site with a visitor center and cemetery; the Historic Spirit Tours run on select fall dates, so check the fort for tickets.
