The Deering Estate is a 450-acre Miami-Dade County Heritage Park on Biscayne Bay, centered on the Stone House built for industrialist Charles Deering, who lived there year-round with his wife Marion until his death in his bedroom in 1927. The estate runs Historic Ghost Tours on select October evenings, led by guides from the group PRISM Paranormal Research, who have volunteered at the estate since 2014. They report more than 60 recorded voices, photos of apparitions and light anomalies. Visitors describe sudden temperature drops, flickering lights, distant whispers and apparitions near the water and in the historic corridors, with ghosts including Mr. and Mrs. Deering and a boy nicknamed Peter. The stories are staff, investigator and visitor lore.
County-run heritage park open for daytime visits with an admission fee; Historic Ghost Tours run on select October evenings (about $45, ages 9 and up) with advance tickets through the Deering Estate. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a flashlight and bug spray.
