The Blue Belle Saloon on Harrison Avenue in Guthrie dates to the Land Run of 1889 and was later a bordello; the building has since reopened as a family-style restaurant. Oklahoma ghost writers and Guthrie ghost-walk stories name it among the state's most investigated sites. The spirits said to remain are a madam called Miss Lizzie and two of the women who worked for her, Claudia and Estelle. Claudia is said in local lore to have been beaten to death, and visitors tell of women's voices crying and singing and of a ghostly cowboy. The stories involve real women's suffering and are told here with care.
Working restaurant in Guthrie's historic downtown; the Guthrie Ghost Walk also visits the district. Check the restaurant for hours.
