The Battleship Texas, commissioned in 1914, served in both world wars and is the last surviving dreadnought-era battleship. It spent decades as a museum ship at the San Jacinto Battleground before being moved to Galveston in 2025 for repairs and a new permanent home. Staff and visitors reported a sailor called Red in a World War II uniform who sometimes seems to acknowledge people before vanishing through a wall or a closed door.
Closed to tours during restoration; the ship has been moored near Galveston's Pier 21 area, and reopening is planned at a new site, so check battleshiptexas.org. The pin shows Galveston Harbor, not the ship's exact berth.
